The Body Shop brand has set itself a goal in 2021, having already had 60% of its products certified by the Vegan Society, that all its cosmetics will have 100% vegan, certified formulas by the end of 2023. And it hapenned. Brand recently announced that he had achieved his goal.

The Body Shop is the first "100% vegan" brand in the world

This means that all cosmetic ingredients that the brand uses to produce its cosmetics had to be approved by The Vegan Society in order for all 1,000 products in the brand's portfolio to be considered 100% vegan, certified.

The certification process itself is tedious, meticulous and demanding work, involving a thorough assessment of each supplier and manufacturer of the raw materials used.

The Body Shop is not only a leader in the production of 100% vegan cosmetics in all categories of its assortment - the brand was the first in the world to start fighting against animal testing and to use cruelty-free musk in the fragrance compositions of its products.

Will this translate into better sales? Possibly, considering that vegan cosmetic formulas are important to an increasing number of consumers, as are the "cruelty free" or "not tested on animals" labels.

We hope this significant step will set a global standard for other beauty brands and inspire further changes to reduce the use and exploitation of animals across the industry.

Chantelle Adkins, Director of Business Development at The Vegan Society

The brand emphasizes that there may still be old products on sale that have not been certified by The Voice Society, which it describes as "failed":

As of December 2023, all current The Body Shop product formulas have been certified by The Vegan Society. It is possible that old, unsuccessful preparations that have not been certified by The Vegan Society are still on the market because they are being sold.
