No matter how carefully you take care of your appearance, your hair can surprise you with its unruliness. Sometimes they are too curly, other times they are stiff or floppy. How to make them more stylable and always look stunning? Here are tips to help you tame different types of hair.
How to tame unruly hair?
Problem #1: Lack of volume
Your goal doesn't have to be difficult to achieve. The key to success are gentle shampoos and light conditioners that will not weigh down the hair. Avoid frequent use of heavy masks and oils (but don't give them up completely).
In addition, when drying, tilt your head and run the dryer along the hair while using a round brush. Our game changer is a hair dryer and it doesn't necessarily have to be Dyson. Add a volumizing spray or a gentle hairspray to your hair routine.
Pro-tips:
- Avoid 2-in-1 cosmetics.
- Exfoliate your scalp regularly to cleanse your hair follicles.
- Use herbal rinses and homemade lotions.
- Wind the strands on rollers at the roots, first use mousse.
Problem #2: Hair electrification
If your hair quickly rises unnaturally and even sticks to the brush, it may be due to the accessories you are using. Choose a wooden brush with natural bristles, e.g. wild boar, or a comb with sparsely spaced teeth.
Clothes and accessories made of artificial fibers, as well as lack of hair moisturization, may also be to blame. When it comes to hair care, focus on smoothing cosmetics and limit the use of a hair dryer, straightener and curling iron.
Pro-tips:
- Use leave-in conditioners before styling.
- Use hair oils, e.g. argan, almond, black cumin or linseed.
- Dry your hair with a lukewarm or cool stream.
- Choose styling devices with an ionizing effect.
Problem #3: Hair frizz
Frizz is mainly the domain of high porosity hair. They absorb moisture from the air like a sponge due to their widely open cuticles, but they also lose moisture quickly.
Just a few years ago, we associated smoothing with the use of a straightener. We now know – fortunately – that using it can only make things worse. Instead, choose rich conditioners and masks. High molecular weight oils, e.g. linseed, evening primrose, black cumin, are treasures for high porosity hair - when used regularly, they can help discipline them.
Pro-tips:
- Rinse your hair with cool water to close the cuticles (but not ice water!; also avoid rinsing with hot water).
- Comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb.
- Choose cosmetics with humectants (moisturizing substances) - glycerin, panthenol, aloe or honey - and then seal and weigh down your hair with emollients.
- Avoid argan and coconut oil, and use hair silk wisely so as not to over-protein the strands and not to achieve the "hay" effect on the head.
- Use preparations with silicones - don't be afraid of these substances in your care, they are your allies.
- Comb wet hair that tends to curl.
That's interesting too!
Problem #4: Rough, tangled hair
Tangled, rough hair requires special care. Choose moisturizing and emollient spray conditioners without rinsing and nourishing masks. Avoid brushes with artificial bristles and choose combs instead.
Pro-tips:
- Use homemade avocado masks.
- Oil your hair regularly, choosing the oil according to your porosity.
- Choose preparations with silicones and acidifying cosmetics, but in moderation.
- Limit the use of hairsprays.
High porosity hair has a life of its own
Most of the above problems often concern high porosity hair, which has severely open cuticles, tilted away from the hair cortex. Such hair absorbs moisture quickly and is more prone to damage, frizz, tangling and static electricity.
However, with proper care they can be brought back into order. We place emphasis on using moisturizing and smoothing products, avoiding excessive use of styling tools and regular oiling.
Additionally, you must admit that hair that often frizzes, curls and wants to live its own life may be prone to waving and curling. Then start working with the OMO method and attempts to activate the twist, and above all - with acceptance of their nature. 😉
